Brett Griffiths
Brett Griffiths is a 2nd-year doctoral student in the Joint Program in English and Education. She is hoping to research the relationships between access/persistence in higher education vis a vis the way class influences the teaching of writing in required composition courses. Although she is currently studying these issues in higher education and English, her path here has been a curvy one, having worked as a social worker and group home manager for children and adults with autism, wards of the state, and gang-involved teenagers in the juvenile system. It was during her master's degree in creative writing where she taught university writing courses on various levels where she first began interrogating the complex relationships between class and language, and the combination of all of these experiences that led her here. Although she is not a full-time member of the Forum, she enjoys participating and contributing to the amazing work we do here, and is thankful for the opportunity to listen in and dabble a bit in her researh areas whenever possible.
OH, and she has a rockin' dog who probably has ten IQ points on her, but try not to rub her face in it.
