The National Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good

Drew Murray

Drew is a Virginia native raised in the Roanoke Valley. While studying at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, he completed an independent quantitative research project on a local adult drug court. The experience provided invaluable opportunities interviewing, understanding and analyzing a specific public policy’s impact on local community members. Drew graduated with a B.A. in sociology and political science.

After graduation Drew worked at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) in Washington, D.C. and Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering. At AIR he worked on educational assistive technology and early literacy learning projects funded by the U.S. Department of Education. An administrative position at Virginia Tech sparked his interest in higher education and public policy.

Drew is currently a dual higher education and public policy master’s student working at the Forum as a research assistant on the Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) project funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. His email address is dpmurray@umich.edu.
