Dan Parrish C.S.C

He hails from the Great Northwest – Salem , Oregon. He is a 1996 graduate of the University of Portland (business administration), and he received an M.Div. (through Moreau Seminary) in 2003, and an M.N.A. (nonprofit administration) in 2008, both from Notre Dame.
For two years after graduation from U.P., he worked full time as a concrete finisher in Oregon (his home state). He then entered the Congregation of Holy Cross, and was sent to Notre Dame for his formation. He took Final Vows in the fall of 2003, and was ordained a Holy Cross priest in Notre Dame’s Basilica of the Sacred Heart in April of 2004.
His first assignment was as rector of Zahm Hall, a men’s undergraduate residence hall at ND, from 2003-2007. He then spent a year in ND’s Office of Budget and Planning as a financial consultant. He is an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoys music, languages, woodworking, cigars, and all sports (especially college football).
He is a first year doctoral student in higher education administration, studying organizational behavior and management. His research interests center around Catholic higher education and the ways in which Catholic colleges and universities can help build a more just society for all people. He is pursuing the unique ways Catholic higher education can engage an increasingly secular humanist society.
(And the C.S.C. after his name stands for the Latin, Congregatio a Sancta Cruce, or “Congregation of Holy Cross,” the suburb of LeMans , France , where Holy Cross was founded in the 1830s.)
