Policy Impact
Perspectives research and policy briefs - The Perspectives series is designed to help facilitate conversations bridging the community and the state policy arenas. These briefs are an extension of the Access to Democracy project - a two year initiative to engage communities in deliberation on the issues of college access - and are intended to continue an important set of conversations that we hope will lead to a renewed sense of commitment to creating a stronger, more vibrant educational environment for the residents of Michigan.
Education Policy in Review - It is our great pleasure to announce the launch of a new series of policy briefs focused on challenges facing the state of Michigan as it seeks to enhance educational opportunities and increase the educational preparation of all of its residents. These briefs are made possible through the support and assistance of the Center for Local, State and Urban Policy (CLOSUP) of the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education (CSHPE) of the School of Education, and the National Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good at the University of Michigan.
The authors of this series intend to bridge connections between education researchers and state policymakers in order to promote discussion of information and ideas that will benefit Michigan by ensuring the economic, social and cultural prosperity that comes with better educated citizens.
The Cherry Commission on Higher Education for Economic Growth - Finding ways to double the percentage of Michigan citizens who attain college degrees and other credentials that can propel Michigan to higher levels of economic growth.
